Wrong fuel guide
Contaminated fuel? Stop and get the tank checked.
Contamination is not only wrong-fuel at the bowser. Water, sediment, old fuel, mixed fuels or an unknown top-up from a jerry can all call for the same first step: stop and do not keep running the engine.

Why the engine stays off
Contaminated fuel blocks filters, damages pumps and injectors, and causes misfires or sudden loss of power, which is dangerous in Melbourne traffic and on tram corridors.

Questions
How do I know the fuel is contaminated?
Often you do not, until symptoms start. If symptoms began straight after a fill, treat the fuel as suspect and stop driving when safe.
Can I report the servo?
Contact the fuel retailer directly about suspected faulty fuel. We are independent and cannot act for or against any retailer.
What should I note down?
Pump number, time, receipt, vehicle symptoms and photos if safe. This helps later conversations with mechanics or retailers.
